Ontario saw a one-day rise in confirmed COVID-19 cases Monday of 78.
There were 489 confirmed cases, up from 412 Sunday, eight resolved cases and six deaths.
Another 8,417 cases were under investigation.
Ontario Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Barbara Yaffe said 23 people were in hospital as of Friday, 39 people have been hospitalized in the province since the beginning of the pandemic with 12 needing intensive care.
“There may be some local transmission of COVID-19,” Yaffe said. “It’s not just people who have travelled. We don’t know who has this virus at this point.”
Twenty-six health-care workers have tested positive.
“Enough is enough. Go home and stay home,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday. “Staying home is your way to serve.”

People calling Telehealth Ontario have reported long waits, but Elliott said the service now has more than 2,000 lines running, up from about 400 before the pandemic.
